Forest School Day Six children and their Independent Visitor’s took part in a Forest School activity funded by STAR and provided by Kaye from Holly & Hawthorn.  This took place at the Somerset Earth Science Centre and the group learnt how to build their own campfire, which they used to.

Several groups of looked after children had some new experiences during the summer holidays

with thanks to support from   STAR and facilitated by Route1.

  Chocolatier session Seven children and their Independent Visitor’s took part in a Chocolatier workshop kindly provided free of charge by Jane Swayne (Gilbert&Swayne). The children learnt about different.

STAR supported a Scout sleep over at the science museum . Scouting is a remarkable movement that brings amazing benefits and enjoyment to everyone involved – children, leaders, parents and everyone involved with the running of the group. Through adventure,  scouts develop team-work skills, friendships, confidence, independence, responsibility and a ‘can do’ attitude to help prepare them.

New Year Ice Skating Day

    The lad I mentor is autistic and has adhd. I knew he hadn’t tried ice skating before, so I was surprised when he gave me a grin and said that he’d try anything once! I fully expected him to get his skates on and then 5 mins later say he was ready to go.

Wells Independents – Soup

Wells Independents - Soup Four charities shared just over £700 between them after the latest SOUP lunch organised by Wells Independents at the Connect Centre. Lunch-goers each paid £5 for soup and a roll, with their contribution being match-funded by The Swan Hotel they had the option to vote for one of the following charity’s. Somerset Trust for.
