On a wet Wednesday in August 6 mentors and 8 young people met the BugFest Gang at Tilham Farm. We were introduced to an African Land snail called Jeff, a millipede (who remained unnamed), stick insects- large and small, whip scorpions, and of course a tarantula!! Following our trip to the Air Museum earlier in the year, for our summer trip, Jim and I went to the Imperial War Museum in London. Jim is a determined lad who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to dream.  He has a plan to build a huge video game empire with his younger brother.

My name is Anthony.  I retired from a career in the aerospace industry in late 2012 and trained as a PROMISE mentor/independent visitor soon thereafter.  Since mid-2013 I have been Jim’s independent visitor.  Jim is in care with a lovely, long-term foster family.  He is now 14 years old.  We meet every couple of weeks. .

Forest School Day Six children and their Independent Visitor’s took part in a Forest School activity funded by STAR and provided by Kaye from Holly & Hawthorn.  This took place at the Somerset Earth Science Centre and the group learnt how to build their own campfire, which they used to.
